As my wife and I have yet to have any children, I am unable to truly grasp the emotions associated with helping a child in crisis. Brian’s father (also Brian) gave me the following account of Friday’s events, which provide a unique perspective. Read on and consider how you would react as either Brian in this situation. The way the Kroeger men have conducted themselves is both admirable and exemplary, and I urge you to consider sharing and encouraging donations.
”I got out of the shower to hear my cell ringing, but missed the call. I looked at it and there were five missed calls, including one from his land line. Due to poor service it took a ton of ”Hello, can you hear me?’s” to get through.

Dudes and Lady Dudes,
Just because the benefit was Sunday means that this terrible situation has ended for Brian. In an effort to keep Brian and other victims of the Park Jefferson fire in our minds, I’ll be posting photos from the benefit as well as personal accounts of how this tragedy has touched us.
If you’re interested in submitting an account of the benefit, how this situation has impacted you, or photos, please contact me via fb or email (yancy.crawford@gmail.com). I’ll begin by sharing some words from the eldest Brian Kroeger this afternoon.

“Seperate we are dudes, together we are one.”

In case you don’t feel like reading what might be the last post before tonight’s benefit show, DONATE HERE.
There will a benefit show tonight @the Bender Ballroom for Brian. The supporting cast behind this show are an amazing group of people, and I can’t say thank you enough to all of the bands, Bill Finn for networking and resources, Justin Mikesell for being a point of contact and hustler in general, Heath Hooligan for donating studio time to raffle, Max Kauffman for donating art, Adam Scarberry for all of his time and energy, and anyone else that has done anything even as innocuous as sharing the link to this site. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To recap: Brian Kroeger, my compadre of longer than I can actually remember, lost everything to a fire in his apartment building Friday morning.

Aside from being a friend in need, he’s also a hero. Brian would never admit to doing anything extraordinary, but he did.
Here’s the story: Upon realizing that his building was on fire, he ran back into the blaze to alert his neighbors. In the midst of impending catastrophe, Brian unselfishly went door to door waking his building mates in an attempt to get everyone out alive. While there were catastrophic material losses, no one was injured. This is truly the stuff of comic book super heroes.
Be a dude. CLICK ME TO DONATE TO A REAL LIFE WOLVERINE! Donate, share this site, and share the PayPal link! Every penny counts, so donate in whatever increment you can without fear of judgement.
As if you needed any other reason to help a friend and neighbor, donations of $75+, $150+, $500+, and $600+ will all receive art courtesy of international maintainer of mystique, Max Kauffman!

As promised, the incentives are beginning to proverbially roll. We’ll start with a piece of Max’s from 2010 titled “Just for Now.” The next person to donate over $150 will receive this piece direct from our dear artist.

Max is a 574 alum, a friend of Brian’s, and an internationally recognized artist (a great interview with him can be found via this link).
Remember, Bri lost everything in his apt yesterday. Think of all that he can do with your donation! Donate now, and tell your friends!

G’morning, sunshines! Yesterday we had an amazing group of people come together to supply Bri after he lost everything in a fire. Remember, he didn’t have rental insurance and this could easily happen to any one of us. If this happened to you, What Would Dude Do?

We accomplished a lot yesterday, but I don’t want to let this momentum slip. So, today we’ll have some incentives for hefty donations. Like art? Great, because we have been graciously given pieces from 574 to Denver, Colorado transplant, Max Kauffman.

I would sincerely like to thank all of the amazing humans that have helped Brian thus far. He doesn’t know that I’m running this donation sight, and I personally cannot wait to see the look on his face when he finds out how many people really care about him. In the words of City Never Sleeps Singer Justin Mikesell, “Extended dude hugs.”
Please share this page via fb, twitter, tumblr, text, and word o’ mouf. As a friend of Brian’s for the majority of my life, seeing how many people are willing to help has already brought me to tears. Justin and I spoke earlier, and despite this tragedy, the two of us are positive that good things are coming for him. I can’t say thank you enough to those of you who have already donated, but don’t forget to do your part and donate now if you have not yet done so. Be a dude, supply Bri.
